Dear Portia,

Join us for the Hands off My Health Care rally March 27th!  We have buses leaving from ALL OVER PA!  Click here to find your stop and sign up!

Guess who is going to be at the Hands off my Health Care Rally on March 27th?

Al Sharpton and the Occupy Wall Street Movement.

That's right.  The Left is turning out to support the Obama administration and their health care takeover and to call on the Supreme Court to uphold this terrible law.  They'll be down in DC on March 27th.

Will you join me and your fellow patriots to make sure our side is heard, too?  Click here to sign up for the bus!

Al Sharpton and others are saying the Tea Party is dead.  That we don't matter anymore and that we will NEVER be able to counter the Occupy Wall Street protests with protests of our own.

I'm very much looking forward to proving Rev. Sharpton and the Occupy crowd wrong once again...aren't you?

Please sign up here

Last week the President released his latest budget, proposing policies that would result in a $1.33 trillion deficit this year and continued budget deficits for as far into the future as government bureaucrats project.  As budget experts like the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office have explained, the main cause of the looming fiscal problems going forward is unsustainable spending in entitlement programs like Social Security.  Yet the President's FY 2013 budget does not propose major reforms to this broken program.

Social Security has nearly $18 trillion in unfunded liabilities, and with continued waves of Baby Boom retirees and sluggish growth in the number of workers to support them, the problem is only likely to get worse.  Opponents to reform often argue that the program can be fixed with minor tweaks around the edges, but those changes tend to make what is already a bad deal even worse for workers.

Unless the program sees major structural reforms, massive benefit cuts, tax increases, or more government borrowing will be needed.  This would be a huge disappointment to retirees, a drag on the American economy, or an even bigger debt burden onto the shoulders of our children and grandchildren.

Thankfully, there is a better way.

Today, Americans for Prosperity Foundation is launching an effort to educate the American people about the benefits of optional personal savings accounts for Social Security.  It's a policy that relies on freedom and choice instead of forcing Americans to stomach benefit cuts and tax increases.

And it's a policy with several success stories where it has been tried.  For example, more than 94 percent of Chilean workers have opted in to their country's personal account system, taking advantage of the retirement benefits that are 50 to 100 percent more generous than what their old system offered.

Dear Portia,

We have an amazing opportunity before us today, to score a BIG WIN for taxpayers and small businesses…but we can't do it without your help!

Please click here to send an email to your Representative and tell him or her to vote yes on the prevailing wage reform bills before the House today!

At 1pm, our PA Legislators are voting to amend the prevailing wage laws that have long favored unions and hurt working families and small businesses!

Could you please email your legislator right now and ask him or her to vote YES on two prevailing wage reform bills: H.B. 1329 ("Threshold") and H.B. 1685 ("Jobs Classification")?

Our politicians must not only hear from the unions…they must hear from YOU and I…the people who bear the burden of paying for these bills!

Here's a quick overview of the bills:

The "Jobs Classification Bill" will require Pennsylvania to define job classifications on public works projects. The lack of definitions has been used by some unions to attack and file frivolous grievances against small business owners, costing Pennsylvania jobs and tax dollars.

The "threshold bill" will end the artificially low estimated cost of total project from $25,000 to conform to the Consumer Price Index of the previous calendar year. The current amount was based on the 1963 Consumer Price Index and allowed prevailing wage to kick in at too low a threshold making it a costly endeavor for school districts and municipalities to fund minor projects.

Will you please ask your legislator to vote "YES" to H.B. 1329 ("Threshold") and H.B. 1685 ("Jobs Classification")? Don't miss this chance to score a win for the taxpayers and small businesses of Pennsylvania!

Thank you for all your hard work!

In Liberty and Solidarity,

Jennifer Stefano

PS – These two bills are going on our legislative scorecard and every Representative will be graded on their vote.

Dear Portia,

March 23rd, 2012, marks an important and unfortunate anniversary. It will have been exactly two years since President Obama forced his unpopular health care takeover onto the American people. Americans for Prosperity has educated the public about the dangers of government interference in the health care market for the past several years, and now the Supreme Court is set to hear arguments and make a ruling on that very issue.

As you are most likely aware, the U.S. Supreme Court will be considering the constitutionality of several elements of the President's health care bill. This may be our best chance to overturn this offense against our health care freedoms. That's why Americans for Prosperity will be hosting a Hands Off My Health Care rally for free-market grassroots activists from across the country at the Supreme Court on March 27th. Details can be found below.

Americans for Prosperity - Pennsylvania will host bus rides to DC from the following locations:

  • Dolyestown
  • Harrisburg/York
  • King of Prussia
  • Lancaster
  • Media
  • Middletown
  • Pittsburgh
  • Reading
  • Scranton
  • Quakerstown/Allentown

Hands Off My Health Care Rally

The United States Supreme Court, Washington, D.C.
March 27th at 1:00PM

Over the past few years, Americans for Prosperity has been the premier grassroots group educating the public on the dangers of the President's health care bill. AFP's Hands Off My Health Care Tour criss-crossed the nation in 2009 hosting over 300 events and rallies. Then, in late 2009, over 5,000 activists gathered for AFP's Code Red Rally in Washington.

We must remind the Court and all of Washington that the President's health care takeover is an affront to free-market principles and our Constitution. Not only is the individual mandate unconstitutional, but it forces consumers to enter the health insurance market against their will. Click here to read more about the individual mandate.

Dear Portia,

Can you imagine telling a parent: "Your kid doesn't matter. My salary does!"

I can't either. Yet that's exactly what's being told to moms and dads across our Commonwealth. And guess who's delivering that message?

That's right…greedy Union Bosses.

You're not surprised, are you?

In school districts, towns and counties across Pennsylvania, the Union Bosses are holding our children's education hostage, terrorizing teachers who try to help,  choking off money to charter schools and forcing workers to join their organization and pay them dues.

It's all being done in an effort to keep the Union Bosses in power and their own pockets lined with taxpayer dollars.

Sound familiar? Is this happening in your school district, town or county? Click here to tell us about what's going on.

That's why we're launching UNION BOSSES GONE WILD!

It's a new initiative here at AFP-PA to highlight the greed, thuggery and coercion of the Union Bosses. No more can they hide in dark corners. Together, you and I and thousands of other AFP-PA activists can shine a bright light on what's really going on with the Union Bosses of Pennsylvania.

Click here to tell us what's been happening in your area.

And, don't forget to tell us about the great local leaders taking a stand and what YOU ARE DOING to combat the heavy hand of the Union Bosses.

Just look at what these Union Bosses have been up to lately:

Read about the teacher in the Neshaminy School District whose car was vandalized after he spoke out against his Union Boss' intimidation tactics.

Read the story of the Chester Community Charter School on the brink of closing because the public school took the money to pay the union contracts instead.

And take a look here at how the Union Bosses are highjacking negotiations in the Pennsbury School District.

Sound familiar? Is this happening in your school district or in the district of someone you know? Click here to tell us about what's going on.

And, while we're just getting started here in Pennsylvania, take a look here to see how Governor Mitch Daniels and the courageous Indiana legislature took a stand against the Union Bosses in this week.

Workers' Freedom WILL HAPPEN in Pennsylvania; but first, we need to start shining a light on the dirty tricks and thuggery of the Union Bosses in our state!

Help AFP launch "UNION BOSSES GONE WILD!" today!

Dear Portia,

Today, we celebrate President Ronald Wilson Reagan's 101st birthday.  At AFP we're honoring President Reagan with a very special "Happy Birthday" message with a twist -- and putting it on national TV. Our ad compares two contrasting visions of America: the Gipper's belief in economic freedom and optimism, and President Obama's big government philosophy and class warfare rhetoric.

Click here to see the ad now!

President Reagan launched his effort to return America to greatness with simple but profound words during his first inaugural speech on January 20, 1981: "In this present crisis, government is not the solution to our problems; government is the problem." From there he put words into action passing historic tax cuts and cutting back on onerous government regulations. As a result of President Reagan's free market policies, our nation enjoyed the second longest peacetime economic expansion in history with 21 million new American jobs, exploding personal incomes, broad-based prosperity and renewed optimism for our nation.

Consider President Obama's very different approach: higher taxes, reckless government spending, and job-killing regulations and red tape -- all in pursuit of a liberal ideology. The results are exactly what you'd expect: anemic economic growth, massive new debt, high unemployment, and a reduced workforce.

Happy Birthday, President Reagan. We miss your optimism, your love of America, and your belief in the power of freedom. If you miss the Gipper's free market policies, take action now and let President Obama know that we will not stand for his Administration's pessimism, big government policies, and class warfare rhetoric anymore!

Sincerely,

Tim Phillips
President, Americans for Prosperity
